Have Aliens visited earth???

Have we been visited? Most likely. Only proof I have to offer is structures that were built beyond what our understanding of the technology at the time. Perhaps our understanding was wrong...who knows?

Time travel...perhaps in the far distant future. What paradox would we create by travelling back and forth? At some point time would be changed no matter how subtle that change is...what would be the result? What if in our travels back in time we accidentally or intentionally killed one of our earliest ancestors--would we cease to exist?

My question is: if a society were advanced enough to build FTL ships to travel the vast distances between planetary systems we view as habitable by our limited knowledge and standards--why would they want to visit us?

IMO, we would be beyond conceited to think we are the only form of life in this universe. IF life happened once, it has happened before and will again. What evolutionary road will that life form take towards intelligence? (darn, did I just answer the question above??)

To study.

We, as humans, study "lesser" lifeforms all the time. We study every animal & plant we come across.

If a civilization out there has FTL (which isn't actually enough to traverse between systems in good time, by the way but let's roll with it) & they used it to visit us, they'd be studying us, assessing us.

Science drives us, why shouldn't it drive them?

To study, yes that would be a driving force for any intelligent civilization.

I've seen a series called Ancient Aliens. It talks about how aliens created us and gave us technology 1000 years ago. I think I've seen all of the episodes, my favorite being Aliens and Monsters. All episodes are on here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_aliens

I would say "Yes" to this. The universe is beleived to be 900 Yottameteres (93,000,000,000 light years) in every direction, so it's impossible to be the only form of sentient life out there. It's just a matter of probablility that some alien species would one day see our planet, notice the cities on it, and decide to investigate while hidden. Who knows? One day we might be the ones looking at some other race from our spaceships.
