Since yesterday evening there's been quite a lot of new posts.

There's always new posts every day.

The lobbies might be running low but they're all still populated to a degree.

So no, neither are dead, the population is just on the lower end of the scale.

I'm sick of people saying this game is dead, there's been too many of those stupid posts. Besides, it's only so because people like you keep posting that it is! I've seen Internet games, good ones with far fewer players than this!
And by the way, every time I play, there's at least 60 players... And if there isn't, that's what friends are for...

I'm sorry it's just, what benefit do you have by ranting on that the game is " dead ". If anything comments like this may make players quit or not join. And even, if by the tinnyest chances, ( I'm sure they don't) but if the creators looked at the forums and kept on seeing " the game is dead" do you honestly think they would want to make new content.
So please, will you people stop posting messages like this, you are creating an avalanche effect.
And who knows, comments like these may be why new content isn't being created.

I think most of the power gamers beat 18-4, did a bunch of deep chains and geared their heroes to the max, and are done with the game, other than popping back every so often to see if anything has changed and to relive the glory for a few hours.

I see newer players in the lobby every day. I should tell them to come to the forums here and ask questions, get involved, a lot probably don't even know about this site and would contribute if they were aware.

Yeah the forums are a little slow, it's been over a year since the open betas and almost a year since the game launched, right?

Who was it that said, be the change you seek? Or something like that. Go tell people next time you log in to the game to visit the forums.

Unless things change there is no stopping the bitter, steadily approaching end. The game costs 50€ even now and that is a seriously alarming fact. 50€ was too much at LAUNCH relating to the content and gameplay provided. Darkspore is an uniquely brilliant game but the way the devs/publishers are managing it is simply crippling the game. I think the high price is a signal of EA's inconfidence in the product and fear for their investment, and as they saw it didn't sell as well as it could have (not big surprise) they decided to cut the support short. This however is stabbing us and them in the back. The full price tag at this moment prevents the community from not shrinking.

I really, really hope the publishers would think of the common good here. I love this game because it offers in experience something almost entirely unique and I really don't want to see this bite the dust.

Dude, the game is on Steam for $19.99 (NOT a sale price). Dunno where your price tag is coming from. If it's a retail store, go digital, and be done.

People will pull any number out of the air in order to cause trouble. I'd be hard pressed to imagine that price is anything but fake, too.

Fact: In europe, the game is still 50€ which is 65$ on steam being one of the top rip-off with Bulletstorm and some other EA Games.

It could be different on Origin (I don't know, I'm waiting for them to improve the plateform), but it gives a very bad publicity here.
If EA doesn't care because EA never cared about their players (as far as I remember), it could be great if Maxis did.

The game is still going strong to me. I played in the alpha/beta stages and now I finally bought the game and am starting from scratch. I saw people in the lobby chatting and I'm still lvl 1 or 2, with the starting characters. Even if there weren't a lot of players like STWOR or LOTRO or WOW; I could always invite friends to get the game, since origin is offering it for 50% off now; I mean it's a great game at 20 bucks, but at 10, it's a steal and I want people to know about how the editor works so great and the champions you play with are just fun. Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know, there's a new person on the block and I think you'll see plenty more with origin doing sales this week. See you in-game. Later all.

Personally I stopped posting cos most of the people I knew dissapeared. Also school got pretty hardcore

Ever noticed how when there's a problem, the forum population literally EXPLODES?

There's still a fair number in the game...forum count isn't representative of actual playerbase.
