Community Hero Poll, Set 3, Begin Round 7!

Postby Terminal_6 » Sat Sep 10, 2011 10:39 pm

We Proceed to Set 3!
Commence Round 7!
Image

For ye newcomers, this thread's purpose is to find the greatest community made hero! What's a community hero? A hero made by the community. duh. If you want to start creating your own, you can visit the original thread, made by deltav. For each set, we'll choose 40 new community heroes. These heroes are picked in chronological order, assuming they fit the proper format. I will be a bit loose with the format, and my rules will differ slightly from those of Cavalier639, host of the Set 2 Community New Hero Poll. The heroes will be split into 8 rounds. One by one, we'll choose the best hero in each round to go to the finals. Regulations here:

Format and Validation
If you want your hero to be accepted, he must follow the format provided. Worry not, chances are, he/she will.

1. The Hero must be ONE of the five existing Genesis Types.

2. The Hero must be either a Ravager, Tempest or Sentinel. If this information is not provided, your Hero will not qualify.

3. The Hero must have a defined weapon. I will accept heroes with unexplained basic attacks, unless I can't tell what it might look like.

4. The Hero must have a Unique/1st Ability, Variant/2nd Ability, Squad Ability, and Passive Ability. You do not have to define the exact damage/effects for these abilities.

5. The Hero must be more or less original, meaning no copyright infringement and stuff. Basically, don't name your hero Pikachu.

The closer you stay to deltav's original format, the likelier it is your hero will qualify. You do not need an appearance or bio, although they would be quite helpful. We need to be able to imagine what this hero looks like. Not exactly, but a general idea, at least.
This is deltav's format.

[Creaturename]
Type:[sentinel/ravager/tempest]
Genesis:[plasma/quantum/bio/necro/cyber

Bio:[Insert a backstory. Optional]
-----------------------------------------

Appearance:[describe how the hero looks like. You can put a picture here as well.]
Weapon:[idem dito]

ABILITIES-----------------------------
[Basic attack+description]*
[Unique ability+description]**
[Variant ability+description]***
[Squad ability+description]****
[Passive ability+description]*****

*The Basic attack is the attack performed when clicking on a target. This attack can be ranged, or melee.
** The Unique Ability can be used only by the hero it belongs to. On the In-Game HUD, it is the ability icon farthest to the left, not including the basic attack icon, which is further left.
***The Variant Ability is an ability that changes according to hero variant. Each genesis type has their own 4 Variant Abilities, though you can make up your own as well. On the In-Game HUD, the Variant Ability is directly to the right of the Unique ability icon. Click here to see a list of the pre-existing variant abilities.
****The Squad ability can be used by any hero in the squad. The the three spaces to the right of the Variant Ability Icon are occupied by the three squad abilities of the three heroes in your squad.
*****Passive Abilities are abilities that cannot be activated. Instead, they are constantly working, and cost no health or power, unless otherwise specified.

A note to voters:

Don't just vote for the hero who can kick the most @$$. Vote for who you think is well balanced, and has their ups and downs. If Maxis did happen to use the most powerful hero, they'd have to nerf it until it is little more than lone hover bot patrolling the deserts of Scaldron. Just keep that in mind.

All Heroes in Set 3 have already been decided, however, you can still create for the next set!

Poll History:
Set 1 Information- Community Favorite: Voltek-051 the Infestant Eradicator
Round Winners: Varsus, Kocab, Regalia, Voltek-051, Ravatron, Talos, Sonus, and Croyd. Trivia: Cyber was the dominant genesis. No Bio hero made the cut this time. Ravager was the dominant class. No Sentinel hero made the cut this time. The only female hero was Regalia. Only two of the heroes were ranged, and only one of them a Tempest. FfDdc's heroes qualified the most times, with a total of three.

Set 2 Information- Community Favorite: Saix the Deafening Harbringer
Round Winners: Avia, Kudzu, Ultio, Eletri, Detritus, Saix, Perun, and Izar. Trivia: Plasma was the dominant genesis. At least one hero from every genesis made it to the finals. There was no dominant class this time, though only one Sentinel won, which makes the grand total of all sentinel winners 1. The only female hero was Avia. The most common method of attack for the grand winners was Ranged. Kurliew's heroes qualified the most times, with a total of three.

Not in this one, quasar23- he's somewhere around 50 heroes after Spon, meaning he misses the mark to apply by approximately 10 heroes. But rest assured, he'll be in the next one ^_^

Say, Terminal_6... are you moving around heroes made by the same creator in the same round like Impious_Iron and Stammer6 requested? Or just staying with chronological order completely?
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=8055 Set 3 of the Community Hero Poll is under way! Round 2 has started. Congrats to Impious_Iron on winning Set 2 with his hero Saix, the Deafening Harbringer.

Ah yes, something I forgot to mention. I pick the heroes for Set 3 in chronological order, but I'll mix them around into different rounds. I'm getting to it now. Thanks for asking. Aagh so much work.... Well, at least I can say I'm never bored!

@quasar23 depends on if Terminal_6 wants to make a new topic for the next set, or just edit this one.

Anyway... the voting period has started already? In that case... I think this is easy. WE'RE GOING FOR THE DEATH CRAB AND THE CRATER MAKER!

Stammer6's official Round 1 vote goes to Gigavolt, the Thunderous Battletank by ElecManEXE_555!

I remember you guys were mentioning him in the last thread and I'm like "I wonder what's so special about that guy"... and then like holy crap! lol, a mechanic so simple as going from mobile weapons platform to grounded turret is awesome. And the ability is pretty much automatically balanced by the game itself since mobility is inherently your greatest defense.

But on top of having a number of really cool abilities, I just loved the biography and appearance description.

Without sounding like I'm gushing, I like this hero almost as much as I like my own Vesuvius and I'd even really consider voting for him against any of my own heroes if any of them make it to the finals.

im putting in my only vote to gigavolt. I think he might win. You never know, but my money's on him. I'm going to end this vote on Saturday, and start round 2. This is how it'll be for all rounds, unless i get lazy or my computer breaks etc etc etc.

EDIT: I've updated the hero list. There weren't any that didn't qualify.

@quasar23 depends on if Terminal_6 wants to make a new topic for the next set, or just edit this one.

Honestly, I'm not sure if this thread will continue or if the honors will be passed on to someone else.

Voting for Gigavolt and Ares.

Gigavolt... yah. As with Polleous, I'm not going to do impressions of my own hero (and you guys have already done that enough anyway... you're trying to give me a big head here :p).

Ares is pretty neat, though rather overpowered. I like his appearence and giant size, he's just a giant, scary looking beast. His bio is quite nice. 28 base damage normal attack is almost double the strongest normal attack in the current game (which I believe is 16, Orion), so thats way powerful, especially with auto-charge, burn, and homing. Pretty interesting, though, with the auto charge and the burn depending on the first hit connecting. Crater Maker needs far more cooldown and given the invulnerability period, less damage as well, though the difficulty in aiming somewhat balances the power (just not quite enough). But I do enjoy the idea of a jump smash ability, its a great video game standby that somehow didn't make it into this game. Burning Rocket is quite useful, I enjoy moves that synergize well like that. Passive would be very hard to maintain, especially in co-op, but that keeps it from being broken, and its unique (in this game anyway).

Special mention to Zeerath, who I feel has a lot of potential, but needed to be fleshed out a lot more. The descriptions of his abilities just don't give enough detail.

EDIT: Oh, forgot to mention... thanks for starting up round 3 Terminal. And I like what you've done with the topic so far. :peace:
