cant equip in editor

I can't equip anything in the editor. I drag an item from the palette on the left and as soon as it gets to the edge of the palette the item disappears. I don't get any indication on my hero of spots it can be installed to or the translucent item on my cursor. It just snaps back to the palette. This pretty much makes the game unplayable. I've restarted the game, restarted my machine. Nothing seems to help.

umm...im new-i cant seem to save my edited hero-a message keeps popping up saying: hero has invalid parents. what does that mean and what do i do about it??

I'm also experiencing this same issue. It appears to be random, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt

Unfortunately no true fix was ever found. Avoiding extensive lengths of time in the editor does help. When editing, save often too.

So basically the game is unplayable right now and I should request a refund? Because I've played 3 maps now and it still wont let me change items

There are various fixes, including the one offered by dotghost in an older threat which involved deleting files, which has been known to work.

Unfortunately, these days I'm the only...custodian, let's say, of these boards. To that end all I can offer is what I already know. I'm not special, Moderators are pulled from the community for their efforts & I wasn't pulled for my technical ability.

If what's been presented so far doesn't work, contact EA Customer Support. If they can't help you? Well a refund is a difficult thing to get when it comes to any game, especially ones such as this that involve a CD-Key. It's your choice to try though.

so in the vein of wanting to offer help to others that may be experiencing this issue, I found a solution that has worked for me 3 times in a row now. It's complicated to explain tho...

I was experiencing the issue, I switched over to firefox (I run in windowed mode and had FF open on my second screen), and I started to type an angry post on the EA forums (which is where the EA support rep sent me), I realized I should scale it back when I'm not as pissed and I went back to the game to play around a bit more. The first thing I did back in game was try to move one of the already equipped items. It worked, the issue was gone. I played around some more and the issue came back. I switched over to that same FireFox window, still had the forum post open, typed one word in the text box and switched back to the game. The issue was gone, same thing happened about 20 mins later and switching to the FF window I had open, typing one word, switching back fixed it.

I'm going to keep experimenting with other solutions. It might be a good idea if a "Common Problems and Solutions " thread could be stickied...

Well it's not common...& that's not even a workaround, unfortunately. Switching a window does nothing to the game, you were just lucky.

Thread has run its course, nothing more can be done. If you manage to find an actual fix or solid workaround, feel free to make an appropriate thread.

Also a word of wisdom: Don't go raging, flaming, or anything like that. Posting an "angry post" will solve, what exactly? All it'll do is annoy people & get you absolutely nowhere.
